So, it’s not surprising that the excitement is palpable when exchanging communications with any of the artists getting a chance to play Grand Rapids’ new Acrisure Amphitheater in May.
Today, the amphitheater announced that 19 local and regional acts covering a wide variety of styles and ages have been selected to perform during the free, public open house taking place at the 12,000-capacity amphitheater on May 16.
Selected by Opnr and Grand Action 2.0, Gunnar & The Grizzly Boys, Brie Stoner, Ajax Stacks, Mark Lavengood Band, The Hacky Turtles, Mexicuba Latin Band, LVNDR, Kanin Wren, Lady Ace Boogie, Sonny Ski, Brother Wolf, Jamie Dionne and Gwopped Up $peedy will regale visitors as part of the live music lineup.

In addition, the open house will feature performances by School of Rock Grand Rapids, Girls Choral Academy, New City Kids: Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Ballet Co., Grand Rapids Children’s Museum and Vizions dance troupe.
The free open house for the public — which will include self-guided tours of the new venue — takes place the day after the Acrisure Amphitheater official opening concert starring Lionel Richie, The War and Treaty and Brian Vander Ark on May 15. Tickets for that inaugural show are still available online here.
The open house will run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and include local food vendors, family-friendly activities and an evening-ending community drone show presented by Meijer.
“I’m very excited to perform at the amphitheater,” said Grand Rapids hip-hop artist Ajax Stacks, noting he lives just a five-minute walk from the venue. “I’ve been watching the construction of the venue for the last two years, almost manifesting the opportunity to eventually perform there one day. I didn’t think I would be one of the first so I’m extremely honored.”
Stacks said he’ll perform one of his latest singles, “Gold Gym,” and “other feel-good bangers to get the people going” backed by live instrumentation.
Indie-dream rock artist Brie Stoner even plans to use her open house performance as the album-release show for her new studio album, “Matador,” which officially gets released on May 8 via Label 51 Recordings.
“I’m so thrilled and honored to be one of the first artists to perform at this gorgeous new amphitheater. It means everything to be part of a community that truly supports its local artists,” Stoner told Local Spins.
Mark Lavengood called the open house performance by his bluegrass- and Americana-leaning band “perfect timing because I am readying a two-part album-release for 2026. … I was elated to receive the invitation to perform.”
Grand Action 2.0 co-chair Carol Van Andel noted there’s “an incredible depth of talent here in West Michigan. This celebration is about putting that talent front and center and creating a lineup that reflects this community. This diverse set of acts ensures that there is something for everyone.”
