New Year’s Eve may actually be the busiest bar night of the year, but the day before Thanksgiving still qualifies as a crazy, hectic one — especially when considering the hefty roster of bands and DJs celebrating with special performances to kick off the long holiday weekend.
Local Spins photographers captured some of that action at more than a half-dozen venues from Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo on Wednesday — from Desmond Jones at Elevation, Hannah Rose & The GravesTones at SpeakEZ Lounge, The Verve Pipe at Listening Room, a “Leather and Spandex” bash at The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids to Ghost Bunnies at Bell’s Brewery Back Room, a video DJ at Old Dog Tavern and a blues jam at Grand Traverse Distillery in Kalamazoo.
Oh, and before all that: Tuesday night’s Ski Mask the Slump God rap show fired up more than 1,600 fans at 20 Monroe Live to get the holiday started early.
