It’s happening. Two months ago, I tweeted that Calvin College’s Ken Heffner was working to bring innovative alt-rock band Death Cab for Cutie to the Covenant Fine Arts Center.
On April 14, Death Cab and the “Magic*Magic Orchestra” will perform at the FAC, with $50 tickets going on sale at 9 a.m. Jan. 27. See the full announcement by REVUE Magazine here, along with ticket details, also available online at www.calvin.edu/boxoffice.

Heffner said the Calvin show, part of a special limited concert hall tour featuring orchestras, will be the most intimate venue being played by Death Cab, which has been touring behind its latest album, “Codes and Keys,” released last May.
Considering the size of the venue – with a capacity of about 1,100 – this ranks as an amazing opportunity to see Ben Gibbard and crew, and will likely draw an enthusiastic college-based crowd. And it’s the only Michigan date on the tour.
Here’s the band’s latest video for “Underneath the Sycamore.”
