Dayseeker’s post-hardcore assault ranged from “Gates of Ivory” to “Neon Grave” during the band’s Wednesday tour stop at The Intersection in Grand Rapids, with Silent Planet, Rain City Drive and Avoid adding to the moshpit- and bodysurf-sparking affair.

Just down the street, it was a slice of eclectic Americana, blues and soul, courtesy of Michigan’s all-star Schrock Bros featuring Peter Madcat Ruth, making their SpeakEZ Lounge debut for the Local Spins Wednesdays series, and inducing a night of dancing in the process.

Meanwhile, in Kalamazoo, the Gilmore Keyboard Festival brought the Gerald Clayton Trio to Bell’s Brewery Eccentric Cafe, with the Cape Breton Trio kicking off the State on the Street series while buskers entertained passersby during the city’s ArtHop event on Friday.

That same night, Greg Orr celebrated release of a double-EP at Rugger’s Up and Under with a big boost from The Cornfed Girls and the Nathan Moore Affair.

While on the subject of EP releases, Kyle Brown & The Human Condition toasted their new “The Touch of Grass” recording at The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids, joined by Desmond Jones and Loren Kranz & Co.

A few blocks away, country star Drake White pumped up fans at The Intersection during a stop on his “The Bridge” tour, while “mountain music” duo Lynn and Ian: The Moonshine Runners delivered compelling, guitar-driven tunes at SpeakEZ Lounge for the Live Music Fridays series.
