The 2016 Lineup
Indeed, “Farmer John” Crissman, who spearheads the annual two-day event on Shagbark Farm on his Alaska cattle farm near Caledonia, has upped the ante for this year’s festival, snagging Michigan’s own fast-rising Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers to headline Friday night’s lineup and Chicago’s Strange Arrangement for Saturday.
As usual, the rest of the non-stop entertainment during the Aug. 12-13 festival showcases some impressive Michigan talent, including Fauxgrass, Hannah Rose & The GravesTones, Mark Lavengood, Red Sea Pedestrians, Jimmie Stagger, Jesse Ray & The Carolina Catfish, Balsam Brothers, Corn Fed Girls and more.
“We are so excited about this year,” said Madalyn Rose Crissman, who arranged the final bookings for the festival. “We are hoping for the biggest and best Cowpie so far.”
As the festival’s website puts it, “Get ready to be buttered by our most eclectic roster to date.”
Based in Chicago, Strange Arrangement has been cranking out its progressive, funky, jam-band rock for more than two decades. Joe Herter & The Rainbow Seekers, meanwhile, have established themselves as a unique party and festival band with a soulful folk-rock vibe and an enthusiastic fan base.
