Winter refused to loosen its grip around West Michigan’s throat this week, but that didn’t stop tons of venues and festivals from announcing their summer lineups — a sure sign of spring.

And the rain/snow/cold didn’t stop the live music carousel from spinning its magic: Hatebreed, Every Time I Die and Job for a Cowboy at The Intersection (followed by Sleeping with Sirens), the intoxicating blues/soul of Grand Rapids’ own Blue Molly filling up the dance floor at Billy’s Lounge (which you can also see in video form below), Hannah Rose Graves at SpeakEZ Lounge, Clutch pounding it out for a sold-out crowd at The Orbit Room, New York’s Donna the Buffalo and Grand Rapids’ own Big Dudee Roo entertaining “The Herd” at The Intersection, the Kent County String Band playing its “Springtime Serenade” with special guests at The Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill, and a host of talented West Michigan acts — including Igby Iris, Simien the Whale, Nick Stevenson Band, Otis Blueswell Jr. and Jared Wekenman — showcasing their diversity at Wealthy Theatre for Jake’s Music Festival.
