According to Meijer Gardens spokeswoman Amy Sawade, the Aug. 17 concert – which also features singer Mavis Staples – sold out in less than 45 minutes on Saturday.
Tickets to see classic rock’s Steve Miller Band on June 17 and pop artists Gavin DeGraw and Colbie Caillat on Aug. 3 also sold out in less than two hours during the first day of the member pre-sale, which continues until 5 p.m. May 11. The public sale begins at 10 a.m. May 12, with tickets available at Meijer Gardens and through Star Tickets.
The concerts at the 1,900-capacity outdoor amphitheater are part of a record-setting 25-show summer series announced earlier this month. The series kicks off on June 1 with the B-52s and closes on Aug. 29 with Wynton Marsalis. See the full schedule and ticket information here.
Several other shows posted strong sales on Saturday, with more than 70 percent of available tickets being snapped up by Meijer Gardens members, according to Sawade. These concerts include the B-52s, soul singer Al Green (June 18), O.A.R. (July 22), singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett and His Large Band (July 25), country singer Darius Rucker (Aug. 22) and Wynton Marsalis.
A handful of shows sell out every year to members during the pre-sale period. Get more information at the Meijer Gardens website.
