Talk about showcasing different ends of the musical spectrum.
There was Bilmuri on Friday at The Intersection’s Elevation in Grand Rapids, a guy (Johnny Franck) whose act is a twist on comedic actor Bill Murray’s name, uncorking a stew of emo, pop, post-hardcore and more for a hyped-up crowd that filled the mosh pit for a performance rife with off-the-charts energy. As one of his songs proclaimed, it was all about “Livin’ Laughin’ Lovin.”

Led by Bear Rinehart, South Carolina’s Wilder Woods, meanwhile, brought its rootsy, alternative-indie Americana strains to The Intersection the following night, touring behind a new album, “Curioso.”
Then there was French-American jazz singer Cecile McLorin Salvant, who brought her distinctive vocals and immensely talented band to St. Cecilia Music Center in Grand Rapids on Thursday.
Or how about West Michigan guitarist Mark Lavengood, lighting up Otsego’s Liquid Note Brewing with his bluegrass-infused magic with help from his trio bandmates?

And more than a dozen musicians and singers from across the region revisited the enduring classic rock, country, folk and pop music of Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne and Warren Zevon for the first-ever “Laurel Canyon Night” at a packed SpeakEZ Lounge in Grand Rapids on Friday.
The upbeat affair featured Steve Pesch, Sarah Van Eerden, Nicholas James Thomasma, Kyle Brown, Mark Swanson, Devin Weber, James Murphy, Tom Taylor, Charlie Hoats, Charley Honey, Dale Wicks, Alex Austin and John Sinkevics.
Meanwhile, Saturday’s 19th Winter Beer Festival at LMCU Ballpark in Comstock Park featured sets by Hannah Rose Graves and band, as well as Caitlin Cusack.
