It’s shaping up to be a hot summer at Bell’s Brewery Beer Garden in Kalamazoo.

With Reverend Horton Heat and Chris Robinson Brotherhood on the calendar, return engagements from Drive By-Truckers and George Clinton, and a Saturday night headlining gig for up-and-coming Michigan alt-folk-rockers The Accidentals, the first wave of concert announcements ensure there will be a lot of Oberon and Two Hearted tossed back in the Garden this summer.
For the first time in 14 years, Greensky Bluegrass isn’t the featured artist at Bell’s Beer Garden opener, as the hometown jamgrass faves head north to host the inaugural Camp Greensky Music Festival.
Instead, the first blast in June will feature Southern rock/soul/blues band JJ Grey & Mofro on June 1, with the rest of the weekend still shaping up.
“We’re excited that GSBG has had such tremendous growth and success that they are able to put on their own festival, and we’re glad we were able to host them as part of the Garden opener event for as long as we were,” Bell’s talent buyer Irving Ronk said.
“We’re also excited for the Garden schedule that we’ve announced thus far and our other confirmed shows that have yet to be announced.”
In addition to the aforementioned artists, bluegrass acts The Steeldrivers and Steep Canyon Rangers pay Kalamazoo visits on back to back June weekends and funk rockers Here Come the Mummies will hit the Garden stage in July.
Many more artists are expected to be announced this summer. Check back at Local Spins for more announcements or follow the Bell’s events page or Facebook page to keep up.
