West Michigan's music scene
The long Thanksgiving weekend gave West Michigan music fans reason to be thankful for any number of milestone performances.
There was Michigan-bred rock band Pop Evil delivering a rousing, crowd-inciting homecoming blast at The Intersection in the upstairs showroom while Grand Rapids jam band Desmond Jones — accompanied by Earth Radio and Major Murphy — ramped up its glammy (and now traditional) Thanksgiving Eve party downstairs at Elevation.
On Friday, the iconic Cleveland hip-hop act Bone Thugs-N-Harmony lit up GLC Live at 20 Monroe in Grand Rapids.
On Saturday, Full Cord celebrated release of its latest studio album, “Cambium,” at Park Theatre in Holland while 30 miles away, Michigan’s own Americana hero Myron Elkins and rootsy Detroit rock outfit The Gasoline Gypsies entertained a sold-out crowd at Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill.
That same night to the south, The Quasi Kings and Kalamazoo’s Highdeas unfurled a night of reggae at Bell’s Brewery Eccentric Cafe.
