The holidays had a homecoming-styled festive flair, from a Haner-Lockwood-Rickabus night to Jesse Ray & The Carolina Catfish’s rockabilly romp and more, captured in Local Spins images and videos.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah from Local Spins!
The week leading up to the holidays certainly was a bright and musically merry one, including:
• Trans-Siberian Orchestra returning to Van Andel Arena for a double-header of laser-filled, pyrotechnic-packed, rocked-out, Christmas craziness with “The Ghost of Christmas Eve” — rattling the rafters and raising money for God’s Kitchen and the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans in the shows hosted by WLAV-FM;

• The Outer Vibe returning home to West Michigan from Nashville to host a special EP-release homecoming show at a jam-packed Pyramid Scheme, with The Turnips opening;
• The Legal Immigrants and Jesse Ray & The Carolina Catfish rocking revelers at Founders Brewing;
• Country singer Kari Lynch hosting her annual “A Very Merry Jingle Jam” at H.O.M.E. in The B.O.B. with Valentiger, Mat Churchill and many more local artists raising money and collecting needed items for Grand Rapids’ Mel Trotter Ministries:
• Max Lockwood (of Big Dudee Roo), Dan Rickabus (of The Crane Wives) and Morgan Haner (who’s relocating to Grand Rapids from Chicago) combining forces for a special singer-songwriter night as part of Local Spins Wednesdays show at SpeakEZ Lounge, ending the upbeat evening with a ragged-if-poignant rendition of John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over).”
• Singer Megan Dooley and friends hosting a Christmas Eve Eve show at Old Dog Tavern in Kalamazoo, which photographer Derek Ketchum described as “a festive and fun night of friends getting together, making great music and spreading holiday cheer.”
• The Pyramid Scheme’s “Local Showcase Vol. 10” unfolding Friday with The War Between, Oliver Houston, Charles Rogers and DayZ.
