The 40-acre Smiling Acres site outside Trufant has become a festival destination for several summer events in recent years.
But the Smiling Acres Music Festival taking place for the sixth time June 26-28 stands out as the property’s flagship celebration, and this year’s announced lineup boasts a couple of national stars — California blues/jazz multi-instrumentalist Jerron ‘Blind Boy’ Paxton and Indiana roots/country blues favorite The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band — along with an eclectic roster of Michigan artists.
Act Casual, Lady Ace Boogie & Friends, The Smokin’ Dobroleles, Melophobix, Patty PerShayla, Full Cord, Roosevelt Diggs, Jen Sygit and more top off a roster of more than 20 regional acts performing over three days.

Sunday Headliner: Jerron Paxton’s latest album.
This year’s lineup is a continued evolution in the festival’s growth,” said Mark Lavengood, one of the festival organizers who’ll also serve as the “artist at large” during the event.
“We’ve been able to grab a few more recognizable bands while also supporting the rich regional talent source that we all have come to love throughout Michigan and the Midwest. I personally am so glad to have Jerron Paxton headlining Sunday. He’s been a friend and one of my favorite roots, multi-instrumentalist and bandleaders for a very long time.”
Beyond performances, the festival will feature yoga sessions, food vendors, workshops, a fireworks display, visual artists and open-mic opportunities. Advance weekend tickets for adults, $125 plus fees, are available online here, along with options for children and RVs. Friday and Saturday day passes are $50, Sunday $40.
“One of my favorite things about the festival is how everybody is able to come and unite under the stars through music and see some of the most inspirational talent while also getting to jam and connect in and out of the campsite,” Lavengood noted.
“Plenty of workshops and activities and nature walks make for a very unique experience for a Michigan-made music festival.”
