THE READER RESPONSES:
Jack Droppers – For camping, I go with A.A. Bondy’s “American Hearts.” Beach trip is either Jinja Safari’s “Locked By Land” or anything by Cayucas, and finally, up north is usually Breathe Owl Breathe’s “Magic Central.”
Jakey Thomas – “Texas Desert Rose” by the Go Rounds
Ben Taylor – Never a bad time to listen to Spafford
Chad Michael Wedeven – Jethro Tull’s “Thick As A Brick” and “A Passion Play.” After two songs, you’ve traveled ninety minutes …
Thomas Leonard Saxe – For a good road trip, I like “Allman Brothers At Fillmore East” or Little Feat “Waiting for Columbus.” Those two get me moving and don’t put me to sleep. I also play J. Geils Band, but they tend to push my right foot into the speed violation zone.
Stacy Noonan – Whatever CDs we bought at the previous week’s events. This weekend will be Cole Hansen and Cosmic Knot
Kyle Rasche – Lord Huron – “Strange Trails”
Vanessa Clark – Any of Christian Bathgate’s music and/or Yes
Terry J DeBoer – Here’s one that’ll get you down the road: “Autobahn” by Kraftwerk.
Dan Hildebrandt – Paul Simon’s “Graceland” and Railroad Earth’s “The Good Life”
Michael Packer – Frank Zappa “Please Don’t Eat the Yellow Snow”
Kevin Fein – “Northern Country Trail” by Chris Bathgate is the first to come to mind.
Andrew Ogrodzinski – Currently it’s either the Grateful Dead “7/9/89 Giants Stadium,” Devin Townsend’s “Empath” and Aquarium Rescue Unit’s “The Calling.” Also Yes’ “Keys To Ascension Volumes 1 and 2.”
Adam J. Smallman – I always kick off a camping weekend up north with “North Coast” by UV Hippo. Then the playlist consists of a lot of stuff like Foster the People, Neon Indian, The Night Game, Jungle, Half Alive, etc.
Matthew Borr – Pink Floyd – “Animals,” “Close to the Edge” – Yes, “Astral Weeks” – Van Morrison
Cole Hansen – The Crane Wives, Janis Ian, Semisonic, Cake, CCR, Pink Floyd (“Dark Side of the Moon”), Jethro Tull (“Songs from the Wood”).
Jerry Davis – Cruising: James Gang. Beach Boys. Stones, “Let it Bleed.” NeilYoung.
Scott Stefanski – I seem to go light rock mode; James Taylor, Joni, yacht rock, Paul Simon and John Mayer’s “Continuum” album.
Isaac Powrie – The new Wilco album has been the go-to this summer.
Lee Chase – Robbie Fulks, Little Feat, 50s & 60s blues and country
Eric Raby II – Paul Simon “Graceland”.
John Sinkevics – Mine are a bit unusual and probably not summer-related: The Black Keys, Pink Floyd, Spoon, Fleetwood Mac and Joan Osborne … and Golden Earring’s “Radar Love.”
