The Aug. 24-25 festival announced its “initial lineup” today, calling it “a supremely curated” roster of “impressive names in the industry.”
Also on the bill for the festival – which boasts sister events in Columbus, Dallas, Charlotte and Nashville – will be Borgeous, Flosstradamus, Jaden Smith, Kayzo, Dombresky, Grey, Maxo Kream and Tee Grizzley, with more acts to be announced in the future.
Fast-rising, Grammy-nominated electronic music act Odesza – Harrison “Catacombkid” Mills and Clayton “BeachesBeaches” Knight – will headline Friday night’s lineup as they continue to gain momentum for its indietronica, electropop and chill wave music, featured so far on three studio albums.
The 20-year-old Khalid, meanwhile, is a breakout R&B singer who’s already won numerous awards and whose full-length 2017 debut album shot to No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and to No. 1 on the R&B/Hip Hop chart.
In a written statement, Chris Meyer of concert co-promoter MiEntertainment said the goal of the festival is to “enhance the outdoor live music scene in West Michigan.”
Tickets are $99 for the two-day festival — $179 VIP – and are available now online here. One-day tickets cost $55. Get information online at breakawaymichigan.com.
Last year’s electronic- and hip hop-hued festival drew thousands of fans for sets by Travis Scott, R.L. Grime, Waka Flocka Flame, Bro Safari, Zedd, Jon Bellion, 3Lau, Attak, Two Friends, Quinn XCII, Black Bear and more. It was the first time that Grand Rapids’ Belknap Park had ever been used as a music festival site.
