Local Spins’ week-in-review photo galleries covered a lot of fan-elating ground by national and local stars at venues indoors and outdoors, from Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo.
Gotta love this quote from Friedrich Nietzsche.
Support our coverage of
West Michigan's music scene
“Those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”
It speaks to the emotion-inducing, enthralling nature of live music, something that was in abundant supply throughout the past week across West Michigan with crowds exhibiting their exuberant “insanity” at a bevy of shows, including:
Joe Bonamassa at DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids;
Ireland’s Two Door Cinema Club making a West Michigan tour stop at 20 Monroe Live;
Lipstick Jodi celebrating release of the Grand Rapids indie-pop band’s full-length debut album at The Stache inside The Intersection;
ArtPrize’s second annual Blue Bridge Music Festival on the pedestrian bridge over the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids with sets by eight bands over two sun-splashed days;
EOTO firing up The Intersection with EDM music and a new laser-light attack followed the next night by West Michigan hard rock band Wayland hosting an exuberant album-release show;
That One Guy playing Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo, with Lushh doing its thing at The Union.
Brooklyn Afrobeat ensemble Antibalas bringing a smile-inducing display to Founder Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids.
