Tickets go on sale Friday for the sixth annual festival being held in late July with performances by 22 acts, including Michigan’s own Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers.
Detroit’s Mo Pop Festival has raised the bar for 2018 with a lineup that features indie-folk star Bon Iver, indie-rock’s The National, psych alt-pop’s Portugal. The Man, art rock’s St. Vincent and more than a dozen other touring acts, including Michigan’s own Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers.

Organizers of the sixth annual festival – being held July 28-29 at Detroit’s West RiverFront Park – noted that Bon Iver will play his first Michigan show in a decade when he headlines Saturday’s roster of performances, which will also include sets by rapper Vince Staples, rock’s Highly Suspect, indie-pop’s Alvvays and seven others.
Bon Iver, aka singer-songwriter Justin Vernon, released its third full-length studio album, the experimental “22, A Million,” in 2016.
Sunday’s lineup is led by The National, with Portugal. The Man, St. Vincent, Brockhampton, Daniel Caesar, Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers, Turnover and more also taking the stage.

Mo Pop tickets — $99.50 for the weekend or $75 for a single day — go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday online at mopopfestival.com. Specially priced four-packs also will be available, and children 12 and younger will be admitted free with a paid ticketholder. Tickets are also available for at several locations without service fees. The list is online here.
In six years, Mo Pop has yet to repeat a band in its lineup. “I don’t think too many other festivals can say that,” co-director Jason Rogalewski said in a prepared statement.
The festival in downtown Detroit also will feature food from Detroit restaurants, Michigan beer and craft cider, food trucks, craft vendors and an air-conditioned arcade featuring vintage video games.
Last year’s two-day event boasted performances by Alt-J, Run the Jewels, Foster the People, Tyler, the Creator, Vance Joy, Solange, Middle Kids, Pyris, Phantogram and many more, as well as sets by Michigan artists Michigander, Stef Chura, Heaters and Humons.
