Since 2011, Local Spins publisher, editor and writer John Sinkevics has hosted a Local Spins Live segment on Wednesday mornings on News Talk 1340 AM (WJRW), bringing West Michigan musicians and songwriters from every genre into the radio studio to talk about their craft and perform songs on the air.
Featured acts have ranged from alt-country/rock singer-songwriter Nathan Kalish to hip hop artist Rick Chyme to alt-rock rock icon Brian Vander Ark to rock/pop band Valentiger to emerging Americana/pop duo The Accidentals to country singers Kris Hitchcock and Kari Lynch. The interviews are integrated into Local Spins Artist Spotlight stories about the featured artists which appear at LocalSpins.com later the same week. Those stories include full podcasts of the interviews and performances, which are also made available by subscription at iTunes. In addition, the performances are captured on video and appear as part of the Artist Spotlights, as well as being made available on YouTube.
Tune in at 11 a.m. every Wednesday at 1340 AM for Local Spins Live with Sinkevics and Sound Off! West Michigan host Dave Jaconette. Sinkevics also offers up a special sneak preview of Local Spins Live at 9:30 a.m. on WLAV-FM (96.9) as part of the Tony Gates Morning Show.
NOTE: Due to programming changes at 1340 AM WJRW, starting July 23, Local Spins Live will air at 11 a.m. Wednesday, not 10 a.m. as previously scheduled.
