Los Angeles punk/grunge band L7 may have boasted the perfect set list for Halloween week with titles such as “Monster,” “Deathwish” and “Bad Things” when it lit up The Big Room in Grand Rapids on Friday as part of their “Last Hurrah” tour.
But it certainly wasn’t the only band reveling in the haunting holiday, with Grand Rapids’ own Garbage Angel uncorking creepy covers at Grand Rapids’ SpeakEZ Lounge and The Pyramid Scheme, and The Heathens, Domain Master with Paper Sound, Pretty Sure and 2 Dollar Bills heating up the Halloween cover party at Kalamazoo’s The Runoff, among many other costumed affairs across the region.
Add to that tour stops by Blue October/Danny Malone and The Story So Far/Starting Line/Ultra Q at GLC Live at 20 Monroe in Grand Rapids and Steve Wilson, Keith Hall and Carlo De Rose performing at Crawlspace Theatre in Kalamazoo, and it ended up being a pretty eclectic ending to the month of October music-wise.
