Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Luther Dickinson at Kalamazoo State Theatre

Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars, formerly of The Black Crowes) opened up the night on his birthday with a 60-plus-minute set finishing off with Big Head Todd himself bringing out a birthday cake and finishing the set with him. Fans were treated to a great mix of music from Big Head Todd & The Monsters starting with, “Room Full of Mirrors,” from 2017’s “New World Arisin'” before launching into cuts that took listeners back through their career to classic ’90s hit singles from their “Sister Sweetly” album. A nostalgic ’90s rock crowd certainly was happy to see Big Head Todd & The Monsters make a Kalamazoo tour stop. – Derek Ketchum
