Suffice to say, Rubblebucket delivered a colorful array of sights and sounds.
The Brooklyn band rolled through Elevation in Grand Rapids on Thursday evening on their “Year of the Banana” tour.
As a four-piece, the collective ripped through danceable numbers such as “Rattlesnake,” “Earth Worship” and “Came out of a Lady.”
The set included colorful costumes, plenty of saxophone and good spirits, with a mighty crowd following along with every note and every move, as the band climbed around the stage, ventured into the crowd and lit up the evening.
The West Michigan tour stop was just part of a wide-ranging concert lineup heating up the region:

• Chillwave’s Grammy Award-nominated Tycho, touring behind a new studio album, “Infinite Health,” lit up The Intersection on Friday;
• Grand Rapids guitarist Adam Main celebrated release of his new album, “Nights & Weekends,” with two sold-out shows featuring an all-star cast at Kalamazoo’s Clover Room;
• “Jeff Fest” unleashed a blizzard of metal at Papa Pete’s in Kalamazoo on Saturday, courtesy of birthday boy Jeff Hostetler & Drink Their Blood, Rip Van Ripper, Recorruptor, After Midnight, Sons of Denethor and Kent Woerner;
• Kalamazoo husband-and-wife duo Overly Polite Tornadoes staged an album-release show Saturday at Bell’s Brewery Eccentric Cafe with Three Grebes and Hopie Jo also on the bill.
• Grand Rapids prog-rock/jazz fusion band Squatch ignited a full evening of original gems and multi-faceted for Local Spins Wednesdays at SpeakEZ Lounge in Grand Rapids.
