Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the emo-hued pop punk band’s self-titled debut album, Boys Like Girls led a parade of notable touring acts and local artists firing up West Michigan stages over the weekend.
The Massachusetts band performed that 2006 debut album in its entirety in the second set of its tour stop Saturday at GLC Live at 20 Monroe in Grand Rapids after playing every track from the group’s 2009 album, “Love Drunk,” in the first set. (View the full set lists here.) I Don’t Know How But They Found Me and Arrows in Action opened the night.
Just down the street on the same night, The Intersection teemed with fans of electronic music, courtesy of Grand Rapids’ own Super Future, and comedic glam metal outfit Steel Panther, with GR alt-punk-indie band Pretty Sure toasting the release of its new album, “Places You’ve Been,” at The Pyramid Scheme, with Ficus, Low Phase and Riot Course also on the bill.

Bell’s Brewery Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo, meanwhile, hosted the return of Wisconsin Americana/bluegrass outfit Horseshoes & Hand Grenades.
Friday’s lineup included New Wave/synth-pop pioneer Gary Numan, touting the 45th anniversary of his No. 1 album, “Telekon,” with a stop at The Intersection’s Elevation, with blues-rocker Anthony Gomes celebrating his latest album, “Praise the Loud,” inside The Stache.
Friday also saw an overflowing, packed house of fans at SpeakEZ Lounge saluting the 40th anniversary of Grand Rapids rock band The Honeytones, who delivered 42 songs over three sets — originals and covers — spanning their four-decade-long tenure in West Michigan.
