The first-year, two-day festival at the Ionia County Fairgrounds will spotlight regional bands in hopes of raising money to replace Whites Bridge in Ionia County.
An inaugural two-day music festival, set for October, aims to raise money to replace the vandalized Whites Covered Bridge in Ionia County.
Nine Michigan bands are on the Bridge Fest bill at the Ionia County Fairgrounds. The Oct. 3-4 event is sponsored by the Whites Bridge Historical Society.

Headlining will be The Verve Pipe on Friday and Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers on Saturday. Also on the bill will be The Outer Vibe, Dragon Wagon, Fauxgrass, Mystic Dub, Hi-Ker, Papa Jaxson and Vertical Bridge.
Schedules and performers are still being finalized, but music will likely run 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday and noon to 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Day passes are $20 for Friday and Saturday, $30 for the weekend, said organizer Joel Gordon.
“The idea is to make people aware of this and make them come out,” Gordon said of the low cost of the first-year festival. “All of the musicians play nice together and they all know each other.”
An arsonist destroyed the historical Whites Covered Bridge in 2013.
