BRIT FLOYD

Upper-level tickets are still available for the Monday evening show of Brit Floyd, which has added a $1 million light show and new video to it presentation of hits from iconic British band Pink Floyd. It’s the 40th anniversary of the release of the album “Animals,” and Brit Floyd is planning a special rendition of “Dogs” for the Grand Rapids audience. There also will be music from “Dark Side Of The Moon,” “Wish You Were Here,” “The Wall” and “The Division Bell.”

THE ZANNIES

The Zannies are one of Grand Rapids’ emerging stars on the region’s rock ‘n’ roll scene. Formed as a basement solo project a few years ago by bassist and singer Ben Steer, the group also features Eric Satterlee and Peter Slack on guitars and Josh Worsham on drums. It puts its own stamp on music in what Local Spins has described as “a wondrously muscular carnival of rock ‘n’ roll that’s part alt-rock, part psychedelic rock, part raw blues, part rockabilly and part melodic balladry.” Steer’s truly distinctive and versatile voice is well-suited to this band’s inventive approach. Their most recent, much-praised album, “Espejos,” was recorded and mixed by Don Carlisle at Knavish Audio, pushing the band another step forward in its rock journey. This marks the band’s SpeakEZ Lounge debut.

Local Spins Wednesdays are presented by Local Spins, SpeakEZ Lounge, Perrin Brewing Company and WYCE, with Michigan beer specials on tap and free parking in the Monroe Avenue NW lot kitty-corner from SpeakEZ. Admission, as always, is free.

A tribute to Johnny Cash and The Tennessee Three, guitarist-singer Merle Travis Peterson fronts this band that “brings to life classic Cash songs from the Sun and Columbia Records catalogs to the modern American recordings.” Drummer Fel Torres and bassist Trebor Riddle accompany Peterson for this Grand Rapids tour stop by Cold Hard Cash.

Fourteen years in as a band, Vermont’s Twiddle is in the midst of an ambitious U.S. tour, dubbed “Road to Red Rocks,” with support from Kalamazoo’s Lazara, which is finishing up an EP due out later this spring. Twiddle brings its jam-band rock to the sparkling new Elevation venue at The Intersection as it continues to tour behind its “Plump: Chapters One and Two” recordings. SUPERSUCKERS

This is a show presented at The Stache by Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill where The Supersuckers have played before. The Supersuckers are legendary, inspiring Classic Rock Magazine to gush that the band is “the greatest underground American rock band of the last 25 years.” Led by bassist-singer Eddie Spaghetti, the cowpunky Arizona band has released 10 albums over the years, including 2014’s “Get the Hell” and 2015’s “Holdin’ The Bag.”

Atlanta Southern rock/hard rock outfit Drivin’ N Cryin’ will open the show, along with Grand Rapids’ own Westside Rebellion. North Carolina electro-pop duo Sylvan Esso – aka Nick Sanborn and Amelia Meath – has quickly risen the ranks in terms of its popularity, earning praise and attention for its sophomore 2017 release, “What Now,” which peaked at No. 32 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 4 on the Top Rock Albums chart.

The duo currently is touring behind its latest single, “PARAD(w/m)E,” and performs at this show sponsored by radio station WYCE-FM along with New York City songwriter and producer Suzi Analogue. Blues-rock guitar sensation Jake Kershaw is still a 17-year-old Marshall High School student, but that hasn’t held him back when it comes to developing eye-popping instrumental glory and cultivating a fast-growing, generation-spanning audience for his music and performances. He’ll show that off again in a stellar setting when he plays Grand Rapids’ Wealthy Theatre along with a special guest – another young up-and-coming singer and guitarist, Erin Coburn of Kentucky.

California singer-songwriter Keyshia Cole made a splash at a young age in hip hop and soul music with her debut album, 2005’s “The Way It Is,” going platinum in sales and generating five hit singles. She followed that up with “Just Like You,” which soared to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Her most recent album, 2017’s “11:11 Reset,” debuted at No. 37 on the Billboard 200.

She brings her tour to Kalamazoo with hip hop’s Trina (“Damn,” “Here We Go”). The evening is billed as “Ladies Night.” Get tickets online here.

HOWIE DAY

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Howie Day is a returning favorite for Seven Steps Up, lighting up this listening room not only with his songs, voice and humor, but his deft use of effects pedals and live-looping in one-man band fashion. He’s released four full-length albums and several EPs and singles over the years.

“JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR”

Local musicians and performers are coming together to present the 1970 rock musical “Jesus Christ Superstar,” by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. It’s a musical dramatization of the last week of the life of Jesus Christ, beginning with His entry into Jerusalem and ending with the Crucifixion, and exploring hypothetical relationships between Jesus, Judas and Mary Magaelene. The cast features some well-known local musical names, such as Benjamin Hunter, Nicholas James Thomasma, Tim Bober, Serita Crowley, Matthew Fouts, Devin Weber and many more.

Proceeds benefit the Grand Rapids Red Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving health, reducing risk and preventing HIV. Tickets are available online here.

Electronic music stars EOTO (Michael Travis and Jason Hann) have powered up their oft-experimental dubstep and livetronica attack for more than a decade now, playing major festivals such as Electric Forest and many more while cultivating an enthusiastic following for bass-heavy music. The Colorado duo makes a Grand Rapids tour stop after playing Chicago, then heads back to Colorado. This show also features local support from EROY and Pause.

SHANNON & THE CLAMS

California garage-punk band Shannon & The Clams boasts a unique style in appearance and in sound (somewhere between doo wop and rockabilly). It’s the sort of thing that’s earned them a slot on Dan Auerbach’s 20-date “Easy Eye Sound Revue Tour” that’s crisscrossing the country. This headlining show comes on an off-date for that tour (wedged in between stops in Cleveland and Chicago), with the band promoting its latest album, “Onion.”

OF MONTREAL

No April Fool’s: Of Montreal is back in West Michigan playing the cozy confines of Bell’s Brewery Eccentric Café and unleashing the usual, artsy, colorful and wildly entertaining spectacle for which frontman Kevin Barnes and his Georgia indie-rock ensemble is known. The group earlier this month released its 15th studio album, “White is Relic/Irrealis Mood.”

Camilo & Latin Jazz, West Michigan Jazz Society Progressions Jazz Series, New Holland Brewing’s The Knickerbocker, 7 p.m. Tuesday, $10 or $5 WMJS members & students with ID — The WMJS Progressions Jazz Series presents guitarist Camilo Nu and singer Laura Mateo for an evening of “flamenxico” music. WMJS’s Donna Kahny reports that Nu’s concept links flamengo style with popular Mexican tunes “impregnated with jazz and contemporary harmony.”

Dan Giocabassi & Michigan Mark, JT’s Pizza, Cascade, 7 p.m. Tuesday, free — A Western Michigan University music education grad, Muskegon native Dan Giocabassi has played saxophone and flute around the local music scene for years, serving time with a huge array of bands: jazz, soul, rock and folk. On this evening, he teams up with buddy Michigan Mark, guitarist, recently of the Aardvark Conspiracy.

Nightwish playing Kalamazoo State Theatre, 8 p.m. Wednesday, $35-$60 ($104-$190 VIP) – So, this symphonic heavy metal group is billed as Finland’s most successful band, releasing eight studio albums since 1997 and cultivating an international following. Get tickets online at kazoostate.com.

Yolonda Lavender playing the “Music in the Stacks” series at the Grand Rapids Main Public Library in Grand Rapids, 7 p.m. Thursday, free – Kalamazoo soul/hip hop artist Yolonda Lavender plays this unique series that gives fans an up-close-and-personal experience with performers. Get details here.

The Bootstrap Boys playing Founders Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids, 9:30 p.m. Thursday, free – Grand Rapids outlaw country band The Bootstrap Boys have a brand new live album and they’ll be revving it up live for fans at Founders on Thursday. Founders follows this on Saturday with the return of Michigan’s All American Funk Parade, $5.

Peter “Madcat” Ruth and Mark Schrock play Potter’s Lounge at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in downtown Kalamazoo, 7 p.m. Friday, free — Harmonica virtuoso Peter “Madcat” Ruth of Ann Arbor connects with Fennville bassist Mark Schrock for a night of blues and more. Ruth is a Grammy winner and widely regarded as a musical treasure across genres. Schrock is part of the Salt Of The Earth family and appreciated for his bass prowess.

Pathway to the Pasture Contest at The Avenue Café, 2021 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, 9 p.m. Friday, $5 advance, $8 day of show – Regional acts Biomassive, Stormy Chromer and Greggfish play the final round of the “Pathway to the Pasture” contest to determine the final act which will play August’s Cowpie Music Festival south of Grand Rapids.

Edgar Loudermilk Band Featuring Jeff Autry, Zellie’s Opry House, Howard City, 2 p.m. Saturday, $10 — Bluegrass bassist and singer Edgar Loudermilk, with his band and guitarist Jeff Autry, make a matinee return to Zellie’s. This is always a solid show.

Cassidy Bisher, Boy From School, Terrible Lovelies playing The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids, 8 p.m. Saturday, $10 advance, $12 day of show – Technically, this isn’t billed as a “Local Showcase,” but it really is just that – a diverse grouping of Grand Rapids artists, including Cassidy Bisher (with an impressive new rock album), Boy From School and Terrible Lovelies.

The Insiders Tom Petty Tribute playing Park Theatre, 248 S. River Ave. in Holland, 8 p.m. Saturday, $15 advance, $20 day of show – This super-group of well-known West Michigan musicians has assembled a top-notch, highly entertaining tribute to rock legend Tom Petty, boasting some of the star’s most-beloved tunes. The Insiders feature Max Lockwood of Big Dudee Roo plus Phil Barry, Mike Lynch, Eric O’Daly, Joe VanAcker and Daine Hammerle.
