The 2018 Interlochen Arts Festival shows announced today for the picturesque venue 14 miles southwest of Traverse City also boast appearances by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Beach Boys, Jeff Daniels, Creedence Clearwater Revisited, comedian Jim Gaffigan and The Peking Acrobats.
The mix of featured 2018 artists ranges from contemporary folk-rock’s Avett Brothers and fast-rising violinist/electronic artist Lindsey Stirling to legendary performers such as Yes, The Beach Boys, Reba McEntire, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic and Earth Wind & Fire.
Rory Baker, Interlochen’s executive director of presentations, said the series aims “to program for a diverse audience” from the high-profile concerts to theater offerings, guest lecturers and visual artists.
He noted that Blondie, Clinton, Gaffigan, Corea and Creedence Clearwater Revisited are playing Interlochen for the first time.
In addition, Interlochen now offers “premier parking” for 2018.
“Patrons will now have the ability to purchase a parking spot near the venue and have access to a shuttle which will deliver them directly to the venue,” Baker said. “Parking remains free for patrons, but those wishing to upgrade may do so.”
Editor’s Note: As part of a 50th anniversary tour, Yes also plays 20 Monroe Live in Grand Rapids on June 28 and Fox Theatre in Detroit on June 30. This version of the prog-rock band features guitarist Steve Howe and drummer Alan White (with keyboardist Geoff Downes, bassist Billy Sherwood, and vocalist Jon Davidson). Another version of Yes also embarks on tour later this year with founding singer Jon Anderson, guitarist Trevor Rabin and keyboardist Rick Wakeman. “Yes featuring ARW” plays the United States in late summer, but there are no Michigan dates currently on the docket.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on April 27. Get Interlochen series tickets and more details online at interlochen.org.
