A busy week for music in West Michigan kicked off on Monday at The Pyramid Scheme with a seated, intimate performance from Welsh rock band The Joy Formidable and continued on Wednesday with a sold out heavy metal show at The Pyramid Scheme from Corrosion of Conformity. On the same night, alternative rock favorites, Silversun Pickups fired up a mid-week show at The Intersection.
On Wednesday, Michigan fans of rock band The All-American Rejects got a last minute surprise announcement sent to their phones regarding the band’s latest stop on their viral “House Party Tour.” Over the past year, the band has been playing surprise pop-up shows in backyards, drive-ins and other unlikely venues. Last week the band made a stop at the Capri Drive-In Theater in Coldwater, Mich. The chilly temperatures and unconventional venue made the limited-capacity show a memorable moment for fans and the band alike.

“Michigan that was special. To hear people drove hours to support a local drive in theater, coming together to donate money to cancer treatment, enjoying live music in 40 degree weather … our hearts are full,” the band wrote on social media.
On Thursday, the metalcore group All That Remains amped up The Big Room for a high-energy show and local hip-hop artist Headband Henny put on a hometown show at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo on Friday.
As Lionel Richie played the opening show at Acrisure Amphitheater on Friday, plenty of other events added to the buzz in downtown Grand Rapids. Country singer Nate Smith brought his “Long Live Country Rock and Roll Tour” to GLC Live at 20 Monroe and pop-rock group The Plain White T’s sold out The Stache inside The Intersection.
