Laurel Canyon Night II: The Eagles, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, The Byrds (Nov. 21 at SpeakEZ)

When Local Spins hosted its first “Laurel Canyon Night” in February, the response to this open-mic tribute to the music of Warren Zevon, Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne at SpeakEZ Lounge was overwhelming from both musicians/performers and fans who packed the venue. So, we’re doing it again. This time around, we plan to feature the songs of The Eagles, Crosby Stills Nash & Young and The Byrds, all of whom played a role in the California upsurge of talent in Laurel Canyon in the 1960s and 1970s.

If you’re interested in performing at this November event, here are the details and how to sign up.

• The show will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at SpeakEZ Lounge in downtown Grand Rapids.

• Depending on the response from musicians and the number of performers/songs, the evening will be split into two sets — the first for solo and duo performers (acoustic-based), the second backed by a drummer and bassist as a band set.

• Each performer/band will perform two or three songs by their selected artist: The Eagles, The Byrds, Crosby Stills Nash & Young. Performers may choose to play all of their songs from one artist or choose a song from each.

• Each performer will receive a meal/drink tab, courtesy of SpeakEZ Lounge.

Interested performers must sign up via email by noon, Oct. 24. Those performers selected for the show will be informed via email by Nov. 3.

1. In an email to info@localspins.com — with LAUREL CANYON NIGHT in the message field — list the artists and up to three songs that you’d like to perform. Also, note whether you’ll perform solo, as a duo or if you prefer to play with a drummer/bassist (aka the full band).

2. Provide a brief musical background/bio, and feel free to link to a video or to any of your music. For those selected for the tribute night, some of this information will be used to introduce your act on stage.
