John Mayer and Grandmaster Flash started it on the biggest bar night of the year and Drew Nelson closed it out with some Americana charm.

If the Detroit Lions winning on Thanksgiving Day for the first time in a decade wasn’t enough to float your gravy boat, then the weekend’s kaleidoscopic array of live music certainly was.
It all started with John Mayer revving up Van Andel Arena and the iconic DJ Grandmaster Flash at The Pyramid Scheme, but there was more: The Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill on the West Side went from The JetBeats and The Law to Whitey Morgan & The 78s to Drew Nelson and Hwy. 2, Founders hosted Indiana’s Fresh Hops and One Trick Pony got Celtic with An Dro.

Last night Nelson is the first artist I ever heard do as Springsteen cover…. a superb cover of Atlantic City.
