It began with inspiring folk in a classical music setting and rocked on at Billy’s Lounge, Tip Top, Stone House Recording, Intersection, Pyramid Scheme and Wealthy Theatre Annex, evidenced by photos shared at Spins on Music.

West Michigan's music scene
And as you’ll see here, March went out like a lion.
With the weather finally starting to turn, the month closed out with a bright, warm, musical flurry, starting with an acoustically pleasing, series-ending performance at St. Cecilia Music Center’s world-renowned Royce Auditorium by Americana darlings May Erlewine and Seth Bernard with The Fauxgrass Quartet.
The third and final show of early 2013’s Local Spins Live/Fresh Folk series had the crowd singing along … when it wasn’t mesmerized by Erlewine’s voice, Bernard’s guitar work and the Fauxgrass Quartet’s rollicking musicianship. Check out a full review and photos here. (And stay tuned for the resumption of the series next fall.)
The musical fun continued with fellow Americana performers Rachael Davis and Dominic John Davis (Michiganders who now make their home in Nashville) playing an intimate barn concert in Rockford, The Veloras and The Fuzzrites igniting some garage rock at Billy’s Lounge, folk singer Bill Staines playing the Grand River Folk Arts Society concert at the Wealthy Theatre Annex, Rodney & The Regulars and The JetBeats at Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill, Deadwood Stone firing things up at The Intersection for their CD-release show, Mustard Plug and other bands getting all ska-like at The Pyramid Scheme, and a host of different West Michigan acts performing a cappella at Stone House Recording in a “BARE” Halfway House session.
