The Vibe: Located right in the thick of the action on 8th Street in downtown Holland, Our Brewing seems to attract a devoted crowd of patrons who relish the intimate and casual atmosphere which includes being a “bring your own food establishment” that allows folks to cart in outside pizza and other food. Along those lines, owner Trevor Doublestein says, “We offer menus from many of the local restaurants in our area.” Our Brewing, which opened in October 2012, offers 20 taps, wine and bottled cocktails.

Seating ranges from the standard bar and tables to a comfy couch area in front of a fireplace.
Another big attraction: Friday night music performances that offer up everything from singer-songwriters to alt-rock bands to indie-folk artists to blues guitarists who perform in a cozy corner at the far end of the brewpub. Many of the acts are local, others are touring artists from elsewhere in the Midwest.
“The atmosphere is great. Owners and staff are very nice and attentive people. The ambience of the room itself is that of a large living room. People come there to chat and drink, play a board game and eat food they’ve brought with them,” says Diego Morales, whose band, The Daytripperz, has regaled Our Brewing patrons with “a perfect fit” of selections from The Beatles, Eagles and ’70s singer-songwriters.
“The crowd is an interesting mix, young and old. Brash college kids who come to drink and talk loudly, and college kids who come to drink and listen to the music. But then you have anything from 30- to 70-year olds who wander in, and hang out. Depends on the music and the weather, of course, but all in all, it’s a place where people know what to expect — live music in some fashion.”
The Music: Performances take place every Friday at 8 p.m. (The music actually started at 9 p.m. the night I visited.)
