This week was all over the board — from hip hop and pop at WSNX’s Party in the Park to a Prince tribute to Saturday festivals to symphony musicians playing a free show in Kalamazoo.
The final full week of August was filled with musical romps aimed at keeping summer alive.
One of the biggest happened to take place Thursday at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park where 104.5 WSNX fired up its 2016 edition of “Party in the Park,” headlined by Nelly and Fat Joe (with Niykee Heaton and more also on the bill). Thousands of gleeful fans got their weekend started early with this bash on the ballfield. Check out the humongous photo gallery by Eric Stoike.

Saturday also featured the first-ever Summer Collective on Winter event staged by Ferris Coffee & Nut Co. in Grand Rapids, with several acts performing during the day-long event and Ferris unveiling its fetching new outdoor patio. Later that same night, Big Dudee Roo and The Go Rounds fired up the stage at Founders Brewing.
And earlier in the week, the Kari Lynch Band and Shiny Shiny Black made their SpeakEZ Lounge debut for the Local Spins Wednesdays series in Grand Rapids.
