What a week. What0 a month.
Summertime’s musical assault – and sultry heat – continued in earnest the second week in August, starting with a rollicking multi-band tribute to the ’90s at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park to a Michigan all-star feast in the Manistee National Forest near Wellston and an explosion of jazz in downtown Grand Rapids.
MONDAY
Better Than Ezra, Sugar Ray, Eve 6 and Uncle Kracker delivered crowd-revving ’90 nostalgia at Meijer Gardens “Under the Sun.” See the Local Spins photo gallery and review.
TUESDAY

Billy Strings & Don Julin and The Go Rounds fired up the Tuesday Evening Music Club at Meijer Gardens, part of perhaps the most popular year for the local/regional music series yet.
WEDNESDAY
The 97LAV Summertime Blue Series closed out its 2015 run at the DeltaPlex Arena parking lot with its biggest crowd yet – about 4,000 people, with 1,000 motorcycles rolling in – for a performance by iconic bluesman Walter Trout. And Marcus Bradman of Cumulus Media reports that the success of the series, which was relocated this summer from its home at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids after more than two decades, means it will return to the DeltaPlex in 2016, with even more dates added to the schedule next year.
Complicated Animals, aka the duo of Monica da Silva and Chad Alger, brought songs they wrote in Michigan (where da Silva’s family lives, in the Holland area) back to the state from their relocated home in Florida for the Local Spins Wednesdays series at SpeakEZ Lounge. after appearing on the radio for Local Spins Live earlier in the day).
Every Time I Die uncorked another one of its uber-live, fan-pleasing displays at The Stache inside The Intersection. Read the Local Spins review with photo gallery.

An Dro closed out the 2015 edition of the popular GRAM on the Green series outside the Grand Rapids Art Museum.
FRIDAY
A stunted Party in the Park event sponsored by WSNX at Fifth Third Ballpark was cut short after headliner Flo Rida failed to show due to weather and flight delays that prevented the performer from getting to Comstock Park on time before a 10:30 p.m. curfew (and a deluge of rain came shortly therafter). Despite thousands of disappointed fans, many of them still came to party, enjoying opening sets by Tech 9ne, Silento and Grand Rapids’ own Ajax Stacks. Refunds are available for concertgoers.
Hoxeyville celebrated its 12th year with an all-star Michigan lineup that included opening night sets by Greensky Bluegrass, Seth Bernard & Friends, Big Dudee Roo and more. Read the round-up and photo gallery, with more to come from Saturday and Sunday.
SATURDAY

JOE, led by singer-songwriter Joe Rodriguez, recorded a live album Saturday night in an odd location: Dodds Record Shop on S. Division Avenue in Grand Rapids. Fans jammed the small and historic shop for the performance, which also was filmed for an upcoming video.
