Acclaimed singer-songwriter Marshall Crenshaw, a Michigan native, will join Traverse City’s The Accidentals on stage tonight (Tuesday) as part of the final Tuesday Evening Music Club concert of the summer, hosted by Grand Rapids’ Ralston Bowles.
The Ralston & Friends show at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park will also feature performances by Wisconsin singer-songwriter Peter Mulvey and, of course, Bowles, who founded the long-running series and always brews up a special roster of musical guests for the final Tuesday in August.
Crenshaw, a Detroiter who made a splash in the 1980s with rock/pop songs such as “Someday, Someway” is co-producing The Accidentals’ upcoming new album in New York with Grammy Award-winning recording engineer and producer Stewart Lerman. The young indie-folk band – featuring multi-instrumentalists Savannah Buist, Katie Larson and Michael Dause – already has recorded several new songs in New York City, with hopes of releasing the new album in coming months.
The Tuesday Evening Music Club series winds up at 7 p.m. tonight. Admission is free for Meijer Gardens members or $12 for adult non-members – with discounts for seniors and children – as part of Meijer Gardens’ regular admission charge. Get more details online at meijergardens.org.
