The day-long Sept. 13 party also boasts sets by Michigan’s Joe Hertler, Jesse Ray & the Carolina Catfish, Thickest Thieves and Grand Rapids Soul Club.
As Kurt Schmiege of Perrin Brewing Co. puts it, the second annual Perrin Brewing Backyard Beer Bash “should be crazy” with headliner Particle and four Michigan-based music acts plus limited-release beers, new merchandise and a 100-foot circus tent.

The Los Angeles-based Particle, a highly acclaimed, progressive jam band with funk- and live-tronica hues, is the featured act at the event which will run from 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, outside Perrin Brewing at 5910 Comstock Park Drive NW.
Several Michigan acts will fill out the bill, including the fast-emerging, indie-folk/rock band Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers from the Lansing area and three Grand Rapids outfits: rockabilly duo Jesse Ray & the Carolina Catfish, innovative rock’s Thickest Thieves and the popular DJ-driven Grand Rapids Soul Club.
Last year’s inaugural bash drew more than 700 people for performances by Ultraviolet Hippopotamus, Afro Zuma and La Famiglia and Schmiege said he’s hoping this year’s event might attract as many as 2,000.
During the event, Perrin’s Kona Brown will be made available to the public for the first time, with a pre-party bus party for those buying advance tickets that will feature access to limited one-off brews.
Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 the day of the bash. Get more information and tickets at perrinbrewing.com.
