Grand Rapids’ St. Cecilia Music Center today announced its jazz, folk and chamber music series for 2017-18, and it’s a who’s who roster of award-winning musicians. See the full schedule.
High-caliber artists in jazz, folk and chamber music will grace the Royce Auditorium stage at Grand Rapids’ St. Cecilia Music Center in the coming year, with the Acoustic Cafe Folk Series hosting folk legend Judy Collins for the first time on Feb. 1.
The 2017-2018 folk series hosted by Acoustic Cafe radio show host Rob Reinhart also will welcome the return of virtuoso guitarist Leo Kottke on Oct. 26, with more artists to be announced for the series “as the season approaches,” according to St. Cecilia executive director Cathy Holbrook.

Collins, 78, aka “Judy Blue Eyes,” last played Grand Rapids in 2014, performing at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre. Kottke, 71, played a sold-out St. Cecilia show in April 2016.
The “encore season” of St. Cecilia’s jazz series boasts the return of “some of our favorite artists from the first 10 years” of jazz concerts, Holbrook added, including the first musician to play the series a decade ago: multi-award-winning singer Kurt Elling, 49, who will perform on March 22.
The series also will feature the return on Feb. 22 of Grammy Award winner Gregory Porter, 45, who earlier this year won his second Grammy for best jazz vocal album, this one for “Take Me to the Alley.”
