The shock of a Michigan earthquake and temperatures in the ’70s notwithstanding, it was another week of diverse live music, capture in images by Local Spins.
The first West Michigan earthquake in quite some time wasn’t the only thing to shake things up a bit this week. There were plenty of local and national acts who did the same on stages across the region:

• Minnesota’s Trampled by Turtles kicked off the week by uncorking an engaging affair at The Intersection;
• Singer and harmonica player Craig “Griff” Griffith with guitarist Dave Menzo (The ElectroCats) led a parade of two-person bands on stage at The Stache inside The Intersection on Wednesday night, part of his second Grand Rapids Musician Collective gatherings (which also features Channing & Quinn, Hannah Rose Graves & Justin Wierenga and many more);
• Emerging Grand Rapids folk-rock band Lou Baron & The New Lovers pumped up a happy crowd on Wednesday as part of the Local Spins Live at SpeakEZ Lounge series;
• Country singers Jana Kramer and Kelsea Ballerini were part of a Grand Rapids stop for the “CMT Next Women of Country” tour on Thursday night;
• Fable the Poet hosted a “farewell” bash of sorts at The Pyramid Scheme on Thursday as he prepares to head out on a 10-state, 10-week tour, with an artist on hand and guest appearances by A.B., Dante Cope and others;
• The “Building Bash” at SpeakEZ Lounge on Thursday drew an elbow-to-elbow throng of mostly former Grand Rapids Press employees to raise nearly $1,400 for Santa Claus Girls by selling bricks from the demolished Press building, with The Honeytones performing on stage;
• Hank Mowery unfurled his new album, “Excuses Plenty,” at Billy’s Lounge on Friday night surrounded by his fabulous Hawktones, plus special guests such as guitarist Nick Moss;
• Singer-songwriter Alice Peacock made her fourth appearance at Seven Steps Up in Spring Lake, playing to a packed house on Friday night (and also performing Saturday morning for kids as part of a free children’s show in Liz’s Concerts Series sponsored by Courtyard Concerts);
• Meanwhile, up in Traverse City, The Crane Wives regaled an enthusiastic crowd at Workshop Brewing on Friday night with songs new and old (and with Kate Pillsbury on electric guitar);
• Grand Rapids’ The Rockit King unleashed one of its only local shows of the year on Saturday night at The Pyramid Scheme, with Apostles and The Black Chucks also on the bill;
• Jim Spalink, best known for his work with Grand Rapids Celtic music band An Dro, sat down behind his harp Saturday to perform as part of his “Celebration of Beltaine” at Wabasis Lake Park Lodge.
