The deadline for applications for 2015 Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts performers – bands, solo artists, dance troupes – is Thursday, Jan. 15. That’s when these acts have to provide the scheduling committee with the necessary information and audio or video files.
After experiencing a host of delays last year due to some computer glitches – including 11th-hour notifications to performers selected for time slots – Festival organizers insisted in emails to prospective applicants that the process “should be easier” and faster this year, though the entry fee has doubled to $10 this year.
“We have the application, upload to YouTube and payment all done online,” the email noted. “We would love to have all done by Feb. 28 so you know your stage and time. We can get this done with your cooperation.”
The 46th annual edition of Festival hopes to fill its six stages with 350 to 400 acts for the June 5-7 event in downtown Grand Rapids.
Bands and performers can find and fill out the application for music, dance and theater performances at the Festival’s website online here. Acts can also upload the necessary video or audio files online, as well as pay the $10 non-refundable entry fee “using a secure payment form.”
Participation is open to performers who live in the counties of Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo and Ottawa.
