The 45th annual edition of Festival needs between 350 and 400 acts to fill its six stages, reports Joann Reeves, public relations co-chair for the June 6-8 event in downtown Grand Rapids.
There are also two indoor performance venues, one reserved for the Grand Rapids Symphony.
“So far, we’re holding our own, but I received a message not too long ago, about a week or so, saying that the applications were a little light,” Reeves said. “We’re always looking for more performers to come out.”
Bands and performers can find and fill out the application for music, dance and theater performances at the Festival’s website online here. In addition to the online application, acts must also mail in a CD or DVD of a performance, a stage-plot form and a $5 registration fee. Those must be be postmarked by Monday, Feb. 10 and sent to: Festival of the Arts, P.O. Box 68440, Grand Rapids, MI 49516.
Participation is open to performers who live in the counties of Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo and Ottawa.
The scheduling committee meets in March to fill the stage slots. Reeves said the group coordinates times and stages for 1,500 to 2,000 individuals in the various bands, musical acts, dance and acting troupes for Festival’s continuous performances.
