National and local acts fanned fan flames in venues large and small this week, including performances by The Go Rounds, Rival Maps and others. Check out all the Local Spins images.
From a packed house of Calvin College students and fans mesmerized by U.K. ambient alt-rock band Daughter to gyrating, hepped-up bluegrass fans cheering Greensky Bluegrass for two nights in a row at The Intersection and Billy Strings at Founders Brewing Co., it was a late-winter week to remember.

(Indeed, Greensky Bluegrass’ Saturday show was especially memorable because Billy Strings timed things so that he could race off the stage at Founders, head down the street to The Intersection, and join Greensky Bluegrass for part of the band’s second set to create a true bluegrass superstar spectacle. Check out the video below.)
Local Spins will let the photos do the talking in this recap of the week of live music, with images of concerts by Greensky Bluegrass (with special guest Luke Winslow King), Billy Strings, Daughter and Wilsen, Rival Maps (at SpeakEZ Lounge), The Go Rounds (at Rockford Brewing), the 14th annual WO-Stock festival (at West Ottawa High School) and Fonn Mor (at Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo).

A packed house gathered Wednesday evening for ambient alt-rock group Daughter. Frontwoman Elena Tonra said little during the set, but instead let her songs do the talking, putting her heart into the intimate and melancholy catalog and watching the songs wash over the hushed audience. The four-piece performed songs from both its new album, “Not to Disappear,” as well as backtracking through its career to find fan-favorite gems. A magnificent light show, engaging performance and full house fostered a magical evening of live music. – Ricky Olmos
